The Democratic Republic of Congo government has recently signed a contract with Smart Dynasty and Liberty Properties to develop a new satellite city.
“We are very excited and happy that this opportunity will plough back into the South African economy,” Viwe Mlenzana, the chairperson of Beryl Holdings, which owns Smart Dynasty said. The deal is worth just over $700 million.
Named the City of Judges, it will involve three phases. Phase one involves the construction of 2,100 houses. Phase two will see 30,000 square metres of land developed into a retail mall. Two schools, two churches and a 200-bed hospital will be constructed. A four-star hotel will make up the last phase of the development. Several South African consultants and other professionals are expected to be involved in the project.
