Project Management of Project MayfairAucklandParkTraining – The establishment of three Training Excellence Centers and real life telecommunications training subscriber areas for Telkom to provide practical training and experience for approximately 2,000 Telkom Pupil Electricians and Technicians per year; all disciplines – subscribers plant (installation and maintenance), underground cables, test desk, exchange equipment, carrier and transmission, aerial cable construction, stores and vehicle fleet management. Project Management of Project Time Telekom – Driving all the contracts for the implementation of a complete/turn-key Terrestrial and Undersea Fibre-Optic Transmission and associated Telecommunications Network in Malaysia with a budget of more than 2 billion US $. Key activities were the leading of a team comprising of more than 60 members of contract, procurement, programme management, project management, training and quality assurance staff; working in cooperation with an Australian team in Operations and Training, an American team in Network Engineering and Planning, and a Malaysian team in Contracts, Procurement, Implementation, Site Acquisition, Outsourcing and Project Management. Notable Achievements:- Successfully navigated the obstacles and challenges of a foreign legal and contract environment with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams; Gained valuable experience in the Malaysian empowerment strategy (Bahasa Bumi Putra Malay Empowerment System), similar to the South African BEE concept; Trained more than two hundred local Bahasa Malay Bumi Purta staff members to take over positions held by expatriates in a so called “Buddy®” System – 1995 to 1996
